A manufacturer of FTIR spectrometers was using Mercury Cadmium Telluride detectors at illuminations which were beyond the linear range of the detectors, producing nonlinearities that prevented the proper interpretation of their outputs. We designed a simple, high speed analog compensator which exactly cancelled the theoretical nonlinearities in the detector.
