Control and processing electronics for laser-based contour measuring instrument
The measuring instrument was developed to characterize the cross section shape of helicopter wings (blades) using a triangulation method with a movable laser spot and a movable tracking telescope. We developed all of the system electronics, including amplification and processing of the laser spot imaged on a quadrant cell, and motion control including motor drivers for the laser spot and tracking telescope. Dedicated circuit boards, including onboard microprocessors were design and fabricated, and installed in a host computer. We did all of the related programming. Achieved system accuracy was 0.001 inches.
