This industrial grade scanner was developed for a provider of inspection equipment for continuous web products, such as paper. An oscillating mirror was employed to sweep a differential flying spot across the material to be inspected. Front-end signal processing electronics was developed to normalize the spatial and amplitude response of the scanner. Two microprocessors were employed to quantify the scanned information and to display it to the operator. A uniform illumination source was also developed as part of the scanning system.
